PART III: AFTER THE UNSEALING OF THE BLACK MAGE
Chapter 6: Ellin Forest
During the Explorer’s adventures, they met with Tess and learned about his past. Tess revealed that he was the son of the first pirate, Destonen, and a half-elf named Yuris, and that he was also Kyrin’s brother. He explained that Destonen had been cursed by a mysterious man in Ellin Forest centuries ago, with his mother dying from a toxic poison released by that same man.
Unbeknownst to Destonen, the man who had cursed him was Kirston, who had grown enamored by the Black Mage’s dangerous ideals, for which he had been planning to revive him. Kirston had also been researching the prophecy of the First Explorer, believing that the power of the Adversary contained in the maple leaves would be a hindrance to the Black Mage’s plan.
After Destonen’s death, his blood curse had been transferred into his two descendants, Tess and Kyrin. With the curse worsening in close proximity of each other, Tess had left Kyrin with Athena Pierce in order to find a way to break the curse, which had been cast such that it would persist as long as the Black Mage lived.
Soon after, a traveler was called to Helios Library by Wiz, who revealed that he had found a book about Ellin Forest that described someone with the traveler’s exact appearance centuries ago. In order to investigate, the traveler entered a crack in time within Ludibrium, though Wiz warned them that the history could never be changed.
In Ellin Forest of the past, the traveler met with Athena Pierce, who was able to perceive that the traveler came from the future. Athena explained that the people of Altaire Camp had been working to find a new home after crash-landing on Victoria Island. The traveler decided to help Tess, Yuris, and Destonen settle Ellin Forest and learned that Ephenia the Fairy Queen had grown hostile towards humans, for which she was planning to wipe them out.
The traveler defeated Ephenia, causing the book to change in order to record the event. They also read that Destonen would soon be killed, and in order to save him, they found him right outside Kirston’s tent and warned him not to enter.
After returning to the present, however, they were surprised to learn that Destonen had entered the tent anyways, which had resulted in his bloodline being cursed. Back in Helios Library, Wiz revealed that though they may have believed that they had changed to future by killing Ephenia, that event had always been meant to be, as the laws of the world made it so that time physically could not be altered from its predestined fate.
